One of the two tallest lighthouses on the West coast of the United States, Pigeon Point (has been standing 115 feet tall since 1872) tied with Point Arena Lighthouse, is still an active Coast Guard aid to navigation. Pigeon Point Light Station is located on the coastal highway (California State Route 1)between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. It is also a present day Hostel.
