An historic California town driven by the engine of prosperity, fueled by the American dream. After the wealth of Shasta's resources were exhausted fire destroyed what was combustible. Wealth seekers moved elsewhere leaving behind a remnant and a testament to greed not being content. The new boardwalk installed by the Park Service makes for easy viewing. There is also a museum.
